- Can I undergo laser eye correction?
Before the surgery, a thorough examination is required, which lasts about an hour and a half (cost 75 EUR). During the examination, the specialist checks your eyes thoroughly to prepare a personalized program tailored specifically for you. The LASIK method allows for the correction of myopia (up to -8.00), hyperopia (up to +4.00), and astigmatism (up to 4.00).
- At what age can laser vision correction be performed?
Laser vision correction can be performed from the age of 18. The LASIK method is recommended up to the age of 40. After the age of 40, the PRESBYOND program is recommended.
- How much does laser vision correction surgery cost?
The cost of laser vision correction surgery using the LASIK method (for both eyes) starts from €1003 (price valid as of 11.11.2024). We also use PRK, SMILE Femto, and LASIK methods – the most suitable method for each patient is recommended by the doctor.
- In what cases is laser vision correction not performed?
During the consultation, the patient’s eye structure and general health will be assessed to determine whether refractive laser eye surgery is appropriate.
It cannot be performed on people with systemic diseases, such as those suffering from diabetes, pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding, patients with unstable vision in the last 12 months, and in cases of various eye diseases and during acute illness (e.g., cold).
- What should be observed when coming for laser vision correction surgery?
Soft contact lenses should not be worn for one week before the surgery. If you have hard contact lenses, they should not be worn for one month before the surgery. On the day of the surgery, it is not recommended to use cosmetics (neither skincare nor make-up), perfumes. Alcohol must not be consumed. We advise against wearing fluffy clothing.
- Is laser vision correction painful?
The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia – drops, so you will not feel any pain.
- When can I go home after laser vision correction surgery?
On the day of surgery, you will spend about 2.5-3 hours in the clinic. The operation takes about 15 minutes, but the laser only lasts a few seconds.
You may experience blurred vision or watery eyes until the next day, so we do not recommend driving.
Outdoors, you should protect your eyes with sunglasses as your eyes will be sensitive to light for 2-3 days.
- What will I need to follow after laser vision correction surgery?
After LASIK, you must come for a post-operative consultation (free of charge) the day after surgery. It is advisable to have the next three check-ups with an optometrist at AIWA Clinic.
The following are recommended for the first few weeks after laser vision correction surgery:
• Do not rub or touch your eyes with your hands
• Do not use make-up (in the eye area)
• Avoid contact sports (e.g. boxing), sports that can cause eye injuries (e.g. squash, tennis) for 4 weeks, avoid going to the gym for 2 weeks
• Keep eyes away from dust. After LASIK, wear sunglasses if eyes are sensitive to light. After PRK surgery, it is especially important to protect your eyes from UV radiation.
• Avoid sauna and solarium
• Use eye drops if prescribed by doctor - When will my vision improve after laser vision correction surgery?
• After LASIK, your vision improves immediately after the operation, regaining your ability to work the next day. After PRK surgery, your vision improves within a few weeks.
• The post-operative result is guaranteed. If the pre-operative visual acuity is not achieved within 3-12 months (depending on the type of surgery), an additional surgery is performed free of charge to achieve the maximum result. - How long does the result last after laser vision correction?
